We provide one on one care with the same therapist each visit to maintain continuity of care.
All treatments are developed specifically for the individual patient.
We provide flexible scheduling options, including evenings.
Evaluations are usually scheduled within 48 hours.
Brian Tantilla DPT
Dr Tantilla received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences in 2004 with an emphasis on Manual Therapy. He also has a BA in Physical Education from California State University, Chico.
He has continued his professional development by attending numerous continuing education conferences and seminars. These include spinal manipulation, TMJ disorders, Master Clinician’s shoulder course, Rehabilitation of hip and knee replacements, Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation, Hesch evaluation and treatment of Lumbopelvic dysfunctions, FMT Rocktape among others. He has a special interest in treating both post-operative and non-operative orthopedic diagnoses.
Dr. Tantilla joined Core Physical Therapy in 2013 and became a partner in 2015. He also believes in giving back to the community; he has volunteered his time giving seminars throughout the Leland area on injury prevention.
Sarah Ihnat DPT
A native of North Carolina, Dr. Ihnat was born and raised in Wilson. She moved to Wilmington in 2010 after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Ihnat has a wide range of therapeutic experience including both inpatient and outpatient settings and particularly enjoys helping her patients reach their rehabilitative goals. She began working at Core in 2011. When not in the office, you can find Dr. Ihnat with her husband, her two children and labrador, Tucker.
Amy Tantilla, PTA
Amy is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with 16 years of experience. Amy graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 1999 and earned her B.S. in Psychology from Fayetteville State University. Amy has practiced in a variety of settings with a focus in out-patient orthopedic physical therapy.
Amy enjoys family time with her husband and two children and visiting her extended family in coastal NC and Tennessee.
Ryan Walsh DPT
Dr. Walsh recently moved back to Leland, NC after completing his Bachelor of Sciences in Pre-Clinical from the University of Central Florida in 2011 and receiving his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of North Florida in 2016. Ryan has been with Core Physical Therapy since 2016, and is progressing his skill set through continued education tailored toward the outpatient orthopedic physical therapy setting. When he's not in the clinic, you may find Ryan playing sports through a recreational league or with friends, building in his garage, or exploring Wilmington for a new activity.
JoAnne is our front office associate at Core Physical Therapy. She keeps us on an even keel and pointed in the right direction. She relocated to Holden Beach from Hudson Valley, NY in 2014 when her husband retired. She has worked on the administrative side of Physical Therapy clinics for 15 years. She is here to assist you with all your scheduling and insurance needs and in any other way she can. In her spare time JoAnne enjoys boating, entertaining, exploring North Carolina and playing pickleball. She loves returning to the tri-state area to visit her children, grandchildren and extended family.
Fred Ireland M.Ed, DPT
Doctor Ireland received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Delaware. He went on for his Master of Education in Exercise Physiology from Temple University in Philadelphia PA, Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University. Additionally, Doctor Ireland completed a four year post graduate program in manual therapy at the Gulf Coast Graduate PT Institute in Gulfport MS. Aside from seeing patients in the clinic he is putting the final touches on a book on exercise and nutrition for a healthy lifestyle. He enjoys direct patient interaction and care. For fun he likes paddling to Masonboro Island for a session of body surfing, he has a regular yoga practice and is an avid skier. He also enjoys sampling the live music the greater Wilmington area has to offer.
